Jersey Fresh
Well, despite great preparation, things did not go as planned! After a decent dressage test and standing in 14th, we were ready to give it our all. In the start box with 1 minute to go, there was a very unfortunate accident on the xc. Being held for 30 minutes at the box, Stewie ran himself down knowing he was going xc. He felt great and jumped around the course like the machine he is, but got really tired at the 9 1/2 minute mark. We misjudged the corner in the water and I came off. While the weather was hot, I much prefer to swim in a pool! We are both ok, and he is on a well deserved break.

March
I am now an ICP Level 4 Certified Instructor! The testing was at Shadowlane Farm in Aiken, and I believe 8 of us tested. It consisted of a written and hands on test, as well as teaching a dressage, xc, and sj lesson. After all the studying, I am glad to have it done. Congrats to everyone who passed!

Fork CIC*** and HT
It was a good weekend at the Fork! Last Monarch competed in his first CIC*** and finished 9th. We had a solid dressage test, thanks to Judy Walker who has been coaching us, and Stewie jumped very well. We are now headed to Jersey Fresh in May to run the CCI***. Students Andrew Diemer and Anna Petra also ran and did well. Andrew finished 5th in the intermediate on Cold Harbor and Anna improved greatly in the dressage ring. Despite her horse Beamish not liking the duck in the pond the first time, they jumped well, and like Andrew, posted a double clear in the show jumping.

Stewie at SPHT II
Click here to see a video clip of Holly and Stewie's cross country at Southern Pines Horse Trials, where they finished third in the Advanced. A big thank you to Maria for the video!

Late Spring 2009
It has been an exciting couple months! Last Monarch has moved up to Advanced and has finished 4th at Rocking Horse and 3rd at SPHTII. Stewie is headed to The Fork for the CIC*** and he is quite proud of himself! At the first Pine Top he was also 3rd in the OI division, along with student Andrew Diemer who was 3rd in the IR. Dillon also stepped up to the plate winning the OT division at SPHTI, and Andrew had two great finishes on his sale horses Keystone Miranda and The Big Easy. Anna Petra was also great at SPHTII finishing 2nd in the JYOP. Working student Kate Griffin's horses are also doing well, as one is headed for the jumper ring and her young horse, Rikki Tivi Tavi is schooling for a BN. We would like to welcome new employee, Amy Cocke to the team. She has joined us to help manage the barn and keep the horses looking great!

Spring 2009
Well we have kicked off the 2009 season by heading down to Full Gallop for a very frigid horse show. Despite the cold weather, the horses and students were great. Last Monarch and Dillon were both 3rd in the OI and novice divisions, Lara Chance was 6th on Anastasia in the novice, Kristin Commers was 2nd in the OT, and Andrew Diemer was 6th on both his horses in the preliminary and novice divisions. We are gearing up for both Pine Tops, and hope the weather is a bit better! Also, Kate Fitzgerald has brought her two horses to the farm, Ivan and Pirate, and will be joining us after school this spring.
